Eva Schectman - Incumbent

After graduating from Goddard College 34 years ago, I moved to Montpelier and joined the Co-op shortly after. For work I help take care of people, their pets and perform genealogy research. I’ve served on arts boards before being elected to the Co-op council in November 2018, and I also serve on the Just Basics, Inc. board, which oversees operations of the Montpelier Food Pantry.
Co-chairing the council’s Communications Committee and the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee gives me the opportunity to connect the dots among all members of the Co-op community, work to abolish oppression in its many forms and continue leading by example. If elected to another term on the council I will continue this essential work.

The Co-op's most important opportunities are to provide a genuine livable wage for staff, and work together to abolish oppression while offering the best co-operative grocery store possible. Members, the council, and especially the Co-op staff, have risen to the challenges of social upheaval, the pandemic and climate change while maintaining financial stability, and I hope to keep on meeting these challenges, together.
